What Is Amazon Outlet and How to Find the Best Deals
Amazon Outlet is one of the best-kept secrets on Amazon. While millions of shoppers wait for Prime Day or Black Friday, savvy buyers quietly score deep discounts on brand-new products year-round through this hidden section of the site.
Unlike Amazon Warehouse (which sells used or returned items), Amazon Outlet features new, unused products — just overstock, clearance, and excess inventory that sellers need to move quickly. The result: significant discounts on quality items without the risk of getting something previously owned.
This guide covers everything you need to know about Amazon Outlet: how to find it, what deals are available, and strategies to maximize your savings.
What Is Amazon Outlet?
Amazon Outlet is a dedicated section of Amazon where sellers list overstock, clearance, and close-out items at discounted prices. Think of it as Amazon's version of an outlet mall — brand-new products at reduced prices because retailers need to clear inventory.
What You'll Find
- Overstock items — Products ordered in excess that need to move
- Clearance deals — End-of-season or discontinued items
- Close-out inventory — Products being phased out
- Markdowns — Items with temporary price reductions
What You Won't Find
- Used or refurbished products (those are on Amazon Warehouse)
- Damaged goods
- Customer returns (unless explicitly marked)
The key difference: Everything in Amazon Outlet is new. You're getting the same product you'd buy at full price, just cheaper because the seller wants to clear inventory.

Tips for Finding the Best Outlet Deals
1. Check Frequently
Outlet inventory changes constantly. New deals appear daily as sellers add clearance items. Set a reminder to browse weekly, or even daily for the best picks.
2. Sort by Discount Percentage
Use filters to sort by "Discount - High to Low" to quickly find the deepest discounts. Not all deals are equal — focus on the biggest savings first.
3. Look for Prime-Eligible Items
Many Outlet items qualify for Prime shipping. Filter for Prime to get your deals faster without extra shipping costs.
4. Compare with Regular Listings
Before buying, search for the same product in Amazon's regular listings. Sometimes the "outlet" price isn't actually the lowest available — other sellers might have better deals.
5. Read Reviews Carefully
The product is new, but reviews reveal quality issues. A 50% discount on a poorly-reviewed product isn't a deal — it's a trap.
6. Time Your Purchases
Best times to shop Amazon Outlet:
- After major holidays — Clearance on seasonal items
- End of seasons — Winter gear in March, summer items in September
- Before Prime Day — Some sellers clear inventory pre-event
- January — Post-holiday overstock dumps
7. Use Price Tracking Tools
Tools like CamelCamelCamel or Keepa show price history. Set alerts for products you want and wait for prices to drop further.
